Outdoor aquatic park could be coming to St. Boniface

There could be a new outdoor aquatic park coming to St. Boniface. The City of Winnipeg is exploring what it could look like and where it could go, as residents are invited to provide their input.

The goal is to create a space that is fun, welcoming, and better meets future recreation needs in the neighbourhood.

“I’m happy to see plans for a new outdoor aquatic park in St. Boniface progressing and we look forward to hearing from residents on what features they’d like to see,” said Mayor Scott Gillingham in a news release. “As we look to replace aging facilities, we’re focused on creating accessible and more dynamic facilities to better meet Winnipeg’s current and future recreation needs.”

Winnipeggers are invited to participate in an online survey before Dec. 4 to share their input on potential sites, criteria, and amenities. An open house is also taking place at the Champlain Community Centre, 282 Niverville Avenue, on November 14, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“This is an exciting opportunity for community members to help shape a space that will serve generations to come,” said Matt Allard, Councillor for St. Boniface in a news release. “I encourage St. Boniface residents to take part, whether through the survey or at the open house, to help ensure this project reflects the needs and expectations of our neighbourhood.”

A preferred location and cost estimate is expected to be known by the City later this winter for Council’s consideration.
