Over 50 volunteers are participating in a special Blitz Build for Habitat for Humanity this week in Winnipeg.
It’s part of the 2024 General Volunteer build which started Tuesday and will continue through Friday.
“The build site was buzzing with energy as these amazing volunteers came together to make a difference,” said Habitat for Humanity in a statement on social media. “We’re building more than just homes—we’re building memories and friendships that will last a lifetime. Volunteers came out from various organizations, including the CEO and senior director of End Homelessness Winnipeg.
This initiative is more than just constructing houses—it’s about building a city where everyone has a safe and secure place to call home,” said End Homelessness Winnipeg on Facebook. “By participating in this project, volunteers are taking a concrete step toward ending #homelessness in our community, one home at a time.”
The crew is working on the Pandora Avenue West Development in Transcona, which will see 11 blocks of five townhouses built on three acres of land in Transcona. All of the homes will be energy efficient and when completed, will have a carbon-free zero footprint.
The project is expected to be completed in 2026 and will house approximately 275 people, including 175 children.
