Police identify woman killed in Portage Avenue crash

A Winnipeg woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal collision that occurred at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Bedson Street on Friday morning.

Emergency responders were called to the scene at around 7:39 a.m. on Sept. 13 after reports of a serious crash involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service found that the pedestrian had succumbed to their injuries. Three others were taken to hospital and are in stable condition.

Investigators say a Ford F150 truck was travelling eastbound on Portage Avenue when it struck the pedestrian and a bus shelter. The collision also caused damage to a second vehicle, a hydro pole, and a nearby gas station.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, police identified the victim as 40-year-old Nardia Cameria Bedward of Winnipeg. Her family has been notified.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Traffic Division is continuing to investigate and is asking anyone with information or video footage, including dashcam video, to come forward.
