Police respond to 3 stabbings within hours on Friday night

The Winnipeg Police Service is asking for witnesses to come forward after three separate stabbings occurred on Friday night in Winnipeg.

The WPS says in a release that “General Patrol members and Major Crimes Unit responded to several stabbing-related incidents resulting in serious injuries.”

The first call came in around 6:30 p.m., after a woman in her 30s entered a store in the 300 block of Mountain Avenue requesting help as she had been stabbed in the upper body.

Officers from the North District provided emergency medical care and she was transported to hospital in stable condition.

The Tactical Support Team was called in, and a woman in her 20s was arrested nearby. She was believed to be known to the victim and is now facing Robbery and weapons offences. She remains in custody.

Just 30 minutes later, officers from the North District and the Tactical Support Team attended a residence in the 1200 block of Jefferson Avenue and located a male in his 20s with serious injuries to his upper body.

A male in his 30s was arrested on scene and the parties were known to each other. Following treatment, the victim was also arrested for a previous incident. They are both facing assault-related charges and were later released on Undertakings.

The third incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Officers from the North District with the assistance of the K9 Unit responded to the 800 block of Alfred Avenue regarding a male in his 40s who had been stabbed during a robbery.

He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

An unknown male suspect fled and the Major Crimes Unit is continuing the investigation.
