Saskatchewan man in custody after ramming two Winnipeg police cruisers

A 25-year-old man from Saskatchewan is in custody in Winnipeg after fleeing from police and ramming not one, but two cruisers over the weekend. 

Winnipeg police say at around 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, a person driving a truck with Saskatchewan plates broke into a construction trailer in the 3900 block of Portage Avenue. A security guard witnessed the break-in and contacted police. 

Officers located the truck in a parking lot on Portage near the Perimeter. They attempted to stop it. The vehicle fled, ramming a police cruiser. It continued to flee and crossed into oncoming traffic, ramming a second police vehicle before stopping. 

No one was injured during the collisions. 

A 25-year-old man from Lampman, Saskatchewa was taken into custody. He faces a long list of charges, including flight while pursued by peace officer. 

He remains in custody at this time.
