St. James-Assiniboia School Division maintenance staff held an information picket Monday afternoon.
The members of CUPE Local 744 are calling for a fair deal with equal pay for those keeping schools clean, safe and comfortable.
“Maintenance, Custodial, Transport and IT workers at the School Division have been without a new contract since February 2022,” said Cupe Local 744 in a post on Facebook.
Local 744 was joined by CUPE Manitoba president Gina McKay and Manitoba Federation of Labour president Kevin Rebeck.
The staff spent their lunch hour walking around the St. James Assiniboia School Division board office sharing info with those who walked by and in hopes that their words would be heard loud and clear.
The local will hold another information picket from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
