A shelter-in-place advisory has been issued at the University of Manitoba as Winnipeg police continue to search for an armed male.
At around 6:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received reports of a male armed with a knife at the Allen Building, which is located at 30 Sifton Road, at the U of M Campus.
The University is now asking anyone on campus to remain where they are, stay in place and lock their doors.
A shelter-in-place advisory has just been issued by the UM. For your safety:
– If you are on campus, remain where you are, stay in place, and lock all doors.
– If you are not on campus, please do not come to campus.All classes, exams and events have been cancelled for the day.

The suspect is described as a black male wearing black clothing in possession of a large kitchen knife.
Anyone who sees this individual is asked not to approach and call 9-1-1.
