Remembrance Day is upon us. This year, this important day falls on a Monday.
Here’s a look at what’s opened and closed, and which services may be impacted.
Malls and grocery stores
All major malls including, CF Polo Park Shopping Centre, St. Vital Shopping Centre, Kildonan Place, Grant Park Shopping Centre and Garden City Shopping Centre open at 1 p.m.
Grocery stores, including Walmart, Superstore and Sobeys will also open at 1 p.m.
Museums, Art gallery, Zoo
- Canadian Museum for Human Rights- Closed
- Assiniboine Park Zoo- Open 1 p.m to 4 p.m.
- WAG-Qaumajuq – Open1- 5 p.m.
- Manitoba Museum-Closed
Recycling, garbage and yard waste collection
Recycling and garbage will not be collected on Remembrance Day.
If your collection falls on or after the holiday, put your carts out one day later for that week only. Find your collection day at winnipeg.ca/collectionday or by calling 311.
Winnipeg Transit
On Monday, Nov. 11, Winnipeg Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule.
To honour the men and women who have sacrificed for our country, Winnipeg Transit (including Transit Plus) will offer free transit service to armed forces veterans, current serving personnel, including cadets and reservists, and one companion, annually on Remembrance Day.
Those who wish to use this free service may do so by wearing a military uniform, or by presenting a military identification or CF1 card at the time of boarding. When displaying one of the above, the individual should also identify their companion to the operator.
Winnipeg Transit will also be observing a moment of silence in honour of Remembrance Day. At 11 a.m., Transit operators will pull over and stop their buses at safe locations to recognize one minute of silence.
Civic Offices
All civic offices will be closed on Monday, November 13.
Libraries
All Winnipeg Public Libraries will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11.

Online services, including downloadable eBooks, catalogue searching, and holds/renewals, are available anytime at Winnipeg Public Libraries.
Recreation and Leisure
Select facilities will have reduced public hours on Monday, Nov 11. All other indoor recreation facilities will be closed.

- Margaret Grant Pool- 1p.m.-5 p.m
- Pan Am Pool- 1 p.m.-5 p.m.

Animal Services
The Animal Services Agency will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11.

Cemetaries
Brookside, Transcona, and St. Vital cemeteries will remain open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; however, the Administration Office at Brookside Cemetery will be closed on Monday, November 11.
