Winnipeg man facing animal cruelty charges after abusing dog at The Forks

A Winnipeg man is facing animal cruelty charges after he was caught assaulting a dog at the Forks Market.

On Sunday, Winnipeg police say citizens at the Forks witnessed a dog being abused and recognized it as a missing dog recently posted about on social media.

They contacted security and police were called.

A 30-year-old man from Winnipeg was arrested and is facing several charges, including killing or injuring animals and possesion property obtained by crime under $5000

He remains in custody.

The dog has since been reunited with its family. It did not sustain serious injuries.
