2 transported to hospital in 3 unrelated stabbings

Two people were transported to hospital Friday evening following three unrelated stabbings within five hours.

The first incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Police said a woman in her 30s walked into a store in the 300 block of Mountain Avenue asking for help after she was stabbed in the upper body. Officers allegedly administered emergency care and she was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police said they arrested a woman in her 20s nearby. They said she was known to the victim and faces robbery and weapon-related offences. The suspect remains in custody.

Half an hour later, police were called to the 1200 block of Jefferson Avenue where they said they found a man in his 20s with serious upper body injuries. A man in his 30s was arrested and police said the victim and the suspect were known to each other.

Once the victim was treated for his injuries, police said he was also arrested for a previous incident. Both men face assault-related charges and were released on undertakings.

Later that evening, around 11:30 p.m., officers were called to the 800 block of Alfred Avenue for a man in his 40s who had been stabbed during a robbery.

The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition but has since upgraded to stable condition.

The suspect ran off and police continue to investigate. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers.
