The winter wallop in southern Manitoba has prompted a number of highways and schools in Manitoba to be closed, and is resulting in several buses not running on Monday.
According to Manitoba 511, the following highways are closed
- Highway 16 from Gladstone to Neepawa;
- Highway 10 from Riding Mountain National Park to Cowan, and from Minnedosa to Erickson;
- Highway 5 from Ochre River to Kelwood, and Grandview to Ste. Rose du Lac;
- Highway 5 from Highway 353 to Neepawa;
- Highway 50 from Silver Ridge to McCreary;
- Highway 68 from Ste. Rose du Lac to Narrows;
- Highway 276 from Ste. Rose du Lac to Toutes Aide ; and
- Highway 362 from Dauphin to Sifton.
School closures and bus cancellations
Poor driving conditions have also caused a number of bus and school cancellations Monday.
Brandon School Division buses will not be travelling outside of the city on Monday.
In the Seine River School Division, buses are cancelled and there is no in-person learning for students.
Alexander, O’Kelly and Spring Valley Schools are closed.
The Lord Selkirk School Division has cancelled buses and closed schools.
Other divisions that have closed schools include Prairie Rose, Evergreen, Red River Valley, Interlake, Hanover and Prairie Spirit.
In the Division scolaire franco-manitobaine, the following schools are closed.
- École Jours de Plaine (Laurier);
- École Aurèle-Lemoine (Saint-Laurent);
- École St-Lazare;
- École Lagimodière;
- École Gabrielle-Roy (IDC);
- École Réal-Bérard;
- École Saint-Joachim;
- École Saint-Jean-Baptiste;
- École Pointe-des-Chênes;
- École Noël-Ritchot;
- École Sainte-Agathe;
- École Notre-Dame (Notre-Dame de Lourdes);
- École Gilbert-Rosset (Saint-Claude);
- École St-Georges; and
- École La Source (Shilo)
