WINNIPEG –
A Winnipeg man accused of killing four Indigenous women will have his case heard by a jury.
Justice Glenn Joyal rejected the defence’s motion for Jeremy Skibicki to be tried by a judge alone.
Skibicki has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Myran and a fourth unidentified woman Indigenous leaders have named Mashkode Bizhiki’ikwe, or Buffalo Woman.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Opening arguments are set for May 8.
