RCMP find vehicle involved in alleged abduction

Saskatchewan RCMP said Saturday they’ve located the vehicle of a woman accused of abducting her three children, days after she was arrested at a Canada-U.S. border crossing in Manitoba.

The abandoned vehicle was found at Pine Cree Regional Park, situated between Shaunavon and Eastend, Sask.

The white 2018 Mercedes GLC, was previously associated with 55-year-old Astrid Schiller.

Schiller and her three missing children: Leon, 12, Christopher, 11, and nine-year-old Thomas were not with the vehicle and have not been located.

RCMP said an investigation has determined Schiller may have been seen last on June 19 in the Pine Cree Regional Park area with her children.

On June 16, Boissevain RCMP were called at about 2 a.m. after the mother and three children showed up at the border, trying to enter the U.S.

The boys, who had been reported missing in December, were unharmed. They were immediately taken into care.

Schiller, who was arrested at the time, was wanted by the Durham Regional Police Service in Ontario for three counts of child abduction and a single count of disobeying a court order.

Manitoba RCMP said she was later released from custody because the warrant was not extended into this province.

Less than 24 hours after they were found, Blue Hills RCMP were told the three boys were again missing after having been placed in care in Forrest.
