The Winnipeg Police Service responded to a robbery at an apartment complex on the 200th block of Dufferin Avenue and found a 61-year-old woman in her apartment, suffering from several injuries to her upper body. Police administered emergency medical care before the victim was taken to hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition.

Police said the suspect went the victim’s residence to confront her about a property dispute. The altercation escalated, and the victim was assaulted with a heavy metal object and a small-edged weapon and her cell phone was stolen.

Later that evening, police located the suspect in a hotel’s public area on the 500 block of Main Street. She was arrested without incident. Authorities confirmed that the suspect and the victim were known to each other.

The Major Crimes Unit is now handling the case. The 60-year-old suspect faces charges of robbery and two counts of possession of a weapon. The investigation is ongoing.
