Abduction victim sexually assaulted with a gun: police

A West St. Paul man faces a raft of charges after a man was beaten, abducted and sexually assaulted with a gun, police said.

Police were made aware of the abduction on Friday at about 4 a.m. An adult male said he was confronted by two males, one of whom he knew, at his residence in the first 100 block of Millpond Path, near King Edward Street and Jefferson Avenue in the Inkster Gardens neighbourhood.

The man said he was beaten, abducted, and driven to an unknown location where he was sexual assaulted with a firearm and had his cellphone and passport taken from him, Winnipeg Police Service said in a news release. He was eventually released and called police.

A 34-year-old West St. Paul man is in custody and faces charges of robbery, kidnapping, sexual assault – firearm, extortion, break and enter and commit robbery, break and enter with intent, attempt obstruct justice, uttering threats, assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, and careless use of a firearm.

The major crimes unit is continuing the investigation.
