Body of missing Manitoba boy, 6, discovered: RCMP

Manitoba RCMP has announced the discovery of the body of six-year-old Johnson Redhead, who had been missing since Sept. 18, Sunday evening.

He was discovered by a Candian Ranger who joined community volunteers and RCMP in the search for Johnson. He was last seen attending a breakfast program at his local school, but he did not arrive in class after the program ended at 9 a.m., prompting a large-scale search by the RCMP and the community.

RCMP service dog Phlex and his handler, along with additional officers from Thompson and members of the RCMP Search and Rescue Team, joined the search. The Canadian Rangers, the Office of the Fire Commissioner, and volunteers from Winnipeg Search and Rescue were also involved.

Sergeant Mark Svaren of the Shamattawa RCMP Detachment commended the community’s ongoing involvement and emphasized the tireless efforts made throughout the search. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Johnson’s death is ongoing.
