When Sheila Wolfe first checked her Lotto 6/49 ticket, she thought she’d won $1,000. But she soon found out she’d won considerably more than that.

The Winnipegger won $1 million and a free play on the April 27 Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Draw.
“I actually thought it was a $1,000 win when I checked it at the terminal,” she said Wolfe in a press release from Western Canada Lottery Corporation. “But the retailer handed me a slip and told me it was a million-dollar win!”
Wolfe was overjoyed, learning that she is Manitoba’s newest millionaire.
“I buy a lot of tickets,” she chuckled at her prize claim interview. “I enjoy playing the lottery!”
Wolfe has plans to visit family across the country with her new winnings and said she’s very excited to have this news to share with them.
“I’m in complete shock,” she said. “I hope everyone has the opportunity to experience a lottery win!”

Wolfe bought her winning Lotto 6/49 ticket at Shoppers Drug Mart at 3665 Portage Ave., in Winnipeg. She won her prize in the Gold Ball Draw on April 27, with the selection 30114405-01, a white ball.
Meanwhile, some lucky Manitoban has the chance to join Wolfe as one of Manitoba’s newest lottery millionaires this weekend with $157 million up for grabs in both the Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 draws.
Friday’s Lotto Max jackpot is an estimated $70 million, plus an estimated 24 Maxmillions.
Not only that but Saturday’s Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball draw is running out of balls to draw. With only six balls left, the jackpot has soared to $58 million. If the Gold Ball isn’t drawn, someone could win a guaranteed $1 million prize. There is a one-in-six chance the Gold Ball jackpot will be won on Saturday.
As well, Lotto 6/49 Classic jackpot is set at $5 million, providing plenty of reasons to pick up a ticket.
Tickets are available until 9:30 p.m. CT on the night of the draw.
