The initiative is part of the Doctors Manitoba gettinghealthy.ca public awareness platform, designed to provide reliable health advice from Manitoba’s physicians and counter online medical misinformation.
“Most people say they could do more to improve their health, and winter can be the toughest time to start,” said Dr. Randy Guzman, President of Doctors Manitoba in a statement. “It all starts with one step, and this winter if you take one step towards improving your health you can win a great prize. We have plenty of winter-friendly ideas to get you started.”
The grand prize for the 2025 challenge is a Churchill Adventure Trip for two, including airfare, meals, accommodations, and local experiences like beluga viewing and fat biking. Manitobans can enter the challenge at GettingHealthy.ca until Feb. 28, with additional opportunities for bonus entries.

Research commissioned by Doctors Manitoba shows that 87% of Manitobans believe they aren’t doing enough to improve their health, whether it’s through physical activity, healthy eating, better sleep, stress reduction, or medical screenings. The Winter Challenge is designed to motivate people to take action and improve their well-being, while also providing practical advice through their website.
Last year, more than 18,000 Manitobans participated in the Winter Challenge. In a follow-up survey, 88% said they kept their health pledge, and 93% planned to continue their health journey in the months to follow.
“Winter is an incredible time to reset and focus on well-being — not by retreating into hibernation, but by bundling up and getting outside,” Liz Wilson, President and CEO of FortWhyte Alive, a partner in the challenge, said in a press releasse. “FortWhyte Alive is proud to partner with Doctors Manitoba to help Manitobans embrace the season through outdoor recreation.”

The GettingHealthy.ca platform is also part of Doctors Manitoba’s strategy to combat the spread of medical misinformation. A recent CMA report found that 78% of Canadians are highly or moderately susceptible to believing misinformation, with 37% turning to online advice due to poor access to health care.
“Medical misinformation is everywhere on the Internet, which is why we are focusing on providing trustworthy, research-backed medical resources from local Manitoba doctors at GettingHealthy.ca,” said Guzman.
