Two males, aged 12 and 14, and a 13-year-old female face assault and firearm-related charges and remain in custody, said Winnipeg police in a release.

A man in his 70s told police he was leaving a restaurant and walking along Hargrave Street at about midnight when he was shot. He was found by police near Hargrave Street and Portage Avenue where he was given medical care. The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later became stable.

Local witnesses gave police a description of the three youths who fled the scene. They were found soon thereafter and taken into custody.

Investigators believe the suspects were randomly shooting the firearm and there could be more victims who have not yet been identified.
