The northern and southwestern region of Manitoba is experiencing an extreme cold warning as of this Monday morning.

This alert was issued in anticipation of a significant drop in temperature due to a cold air mass. According to Environment Canada, temperatures are expected to lower into the mid-minus 30s in northern Manitoba. When factoring in the wind chill, certain areas could experience extreme cold nearing -45°C.
Southwestern regions will also be affected by the warning with resulting in temperatures around -30°C, totaling -40°C with the wind chill.
Wind chill factors are expected to approach warning levels on Monday night and persist into Tuesday morning, prior to the arrival of warmer temperatures throughout northern Manitoba on Tuesday, as indicated by the alert.

- Municipality of Glenboro-South Cypress, including Treesbank
- Municipality of Norfolk Treherne
- Municipality of North Cypress-Langford, including Neepawa and Carberry
- Municipality of North Norfolk, including MacGregor, Sidney and Austin
- unicipality of Oakland-Wawanesa, including Carroll
- Rural municipality of Cornwallis west of Shilo, including Chater
- Rural municipality of Elton, including Forrest
- Rural municipality of Victoria, including Holland and Cypress River
- Tadoule Lake
Extreme cold warnings are issued when dangerously low temperatures or wind chill conditions pose a heightened health risk, including the potential for frostbite or hypothermia.
Environment Canada has advised individuals to be vigilant for signs of cold-related health issues, which may include shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, as well as numbness and discoloration in the fingers and toes.
The weather agency has emphasized the importance of dressing appropriately. Frostbite can occur within minutes on exposed skin, particularly in windy conditions.
