At 3:30 a.m., officers responded to reports of a disturbance and possible assault in an apartment in the first 100 block of Balmoral Street. During the wellness check, officers noticed a woman discreetly asking for help.

The woman, in her 20s, reported being assaulted by others in the suite. She was taken to the hospital with head and upper body injuries and later upgraded to stable condition. Four individuals were taken into custody: A 37-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, a 37-year-old woman and a 29-year-old woman, all from Winnipeg. They face charges of kidnapping, robbery, and assault with a weapon and remain in custody.

The Major Crimes Unit’s investigation revealed that the victim and accused knew each other. A confrontation over a past issue led to the victim being forced into the apartment, repeatedly assaulted, robbed, and held against her will. She attempted to escape but was dragged back, prompting a witness to call police.
