I can’t believe it’s been two years since I announced my run for City Council. I often think about the 6,855 people in Charleswood-Tuxedo-Westwood who voted for me. I’ll forever be grateful for your support and the support of thousands of Winnipeggers and Manitobans who cheered me on, even though they couldn’t cast a ballot for me. I continue to be proud of the campaign I ran which focused on me and what I thought I could do. I didn’t return fire when others tried to drag me and my campaign down. And even though I didn’t win, I’m still ready to help if you need me. I guess that’s why I’m writing this. Two years later, I know in my heart that I’m right where I belong. I’m still doing my best to make a difference in this community at a keyboard and on a microphone. I’ll always be an advocate and cheerleader for Winnipeg and Manitoba and everyone who calls this place home.

THAT’S BETTER, BOMBERS
The Bombers have hit the halfway point of their season and thanks to a 25-0 win over B.C. Thursday, their record is now 3-6. Not great but I’ll take it. I could be wrong but it feels like the boys are finally starting to fire on most if not all cylinders. We’ll see if they can keep it going after a bye week. The next action for our Bombers is against those same Lions in Vancouver on Aug. 18. Go Bombers!
THAT’S A LOT OF MONEY!
Get this, Taylor Swift is grossing about $14 million per concert on her Eras Tour. Wow! By the time the tour wraps up in December, the singer will have taken in over $2 billion. And Robert Downey Jr. is doing OK too. Marvel will pay the actor $100 million for playing Dr. Doom in the next two Avengers films. That’s on top of Downey’s $600 million for starring as Iron Man in previous Marvel movies.

NEW CAR TECH
Ford has patented a new system allowing cars to monitor other vehicles’ speed. This means a car could snitch on its own driver by sending speeding information directly to police. While some consumers are worried, a Ford spokesperson says the system is intended for use by law enforcement vehicles only.
VENTING TO YOUR DOG
Do you ever vent to your pet? They’re definitely good listeners. According to a new survey, 45% of dog owners say their furry friend listens to them while they vent. 39% claim their emotional health is improved by their dog. 25% say the same goes for their physical health. Dr. Heather Mendoza says dogs are our best friends for many excellent reasons.
ENJOY YOUR LONG WEEKEND!
Whatever you have going on for the long weekend, I hope you have fun and you’re enjoying time with family and friends. The weather is better (less hot & humid) and there are lots of events, activities and locations to check out. But do me a favour, OK…please don’t drink and drive. I’ll talk to you on the radio on Tuesday.
