Head-on collision on Highway 68 claims life of one man

A 28-year-old man from Ste. Rose du Lac died from his injuries after the truck he was driving on Highway 68 crossed the centre line and collided with an oncoming vehicle.

Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP were called to the scene on July 6 at about 10 a.m. in the RM of Alonsa.

The pick-up truck was going east on Highway 68, crossed the centre line and collided with an SUV going west.

Bystanders, who came across the collision, stopped and assisted the injured drivers.

The 28-year-old man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV, a 51-year-old man from Winnipeg, was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

On July 19, 2024, the 28-year-old succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

Ste Rose du Lac RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
