This is the third year of funding for registered not-for-profits organizing tree-planting projects. Winnipeg’s Home Grown Tree Planting Program, established in 2022 with over $7 million in funding, supports both the grant and internal planting efforts.

Successful applicants can receive up to $20,000 for projects aimed at planting trees in areas with higher poverty and underserved neighbourhoods. In addition to financial support, applicants will get one-on-one guidance from a City of Winnipeg arborist.

Eligible organizations must be incorporated or registered not-for-profits with a designated planting site on public property. Applications are due by November 12, 2024. More details and application forms are available at winnipeg.ca/homegrowngrant.
