Winnipeg police are investigating a homicide after a seriously injured man was found overnight in the north end.

Officers found the man Thursday at about 3:18 a.m. in the area of Selkirk Avenue and McKenzie Street and began emergency medical care, police said in a release. He was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation. Notifications are pending and no other information is available, police said.
They’re asking anyone with video surveillance or information to contact the unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 or winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
Police were asking drivers and pedestrians to avoid the area in a social media post Thursday morning, noting traffic delays were expected. The roads have since been reopened.
