Manitoba Hydro wants to hear directly from Manitobans about what they believe the future of energy should be in this province.

Hydro announced this week they have released a survey that asks questions related to decisions on energy use and on “what matters to Manitobans when it comes to energy.”
The survey is available until Dec. 19 on the Utility’s website.
Manitoba Hydro CEO Allan Danroth said input received from the survey will be used to assist Hydro as they work to develop their 2025 Integrated Resource Plan (IRP).
“The process of developing an IRP helps us to understand and prepare for Manitoba’s future energy needs,” Danroth said. “Engaging with our customers, interested parties and the broader energy community is an important part of this work.”
According to Danroth, Hydro’s new IRP is expected to be completed in fall 2025, and will result in a recommended development plan and a “sequence of actions Manitoba Hydro will take to get ready for the energy future” that could include investments in new energy sources, infrastructure, and energy efficiency programming.

“Our planning process will consider a range of potential future energy resources including wind,
hydroelectricity, natural gas, hydrogen, and battery energy storage,” Danroth said.
“We will also be looking at programs for reducing energy demand at peak times, along with other methods for saving energy and optimizing the efficiency of our integrated natural gas and electricity systems, to help ensure we keep energy affordable while also ensuring we are meeting the province’s future energy needs.”
Manitobans can take the survey, and sign up for updates on the IRP process, and on upcoming IRP engagement opportunities on the Manitoba Hydro Website at hydro.mb.ca.
