A $100,000 donation from the Bell Let’s Talk Diversity Fund will support Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre’s Sacred Connections: Pathways for Wellness program. This Indigenous-led initiative offers trauma-informed spaces for healing, using traditional teachings and land-based activities. The program aims to reduce stigma and promote holistic wellness by providing mental health services tailored to Indigenous people’s needs and supporting intergenerational healing.
“We are deeply grateful to Bell Let’s Talk for their continued support of our work to provide community-based support for Indigenous youth and adults across Manitoba,” said Tammy Christensen, executive director of Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre. “This funding will enable us to expand our Sacred Connections program in Winnipeg, empowering individuals to heal and thrive.”

In addition to Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, Bell Let’s Talk is providing $160,000 to nine other organizations, including Survivor’s Hope Crisis Centre, Metis Child, Family and Community Services, and uTurn Project Inc. These grants will enhance mental health services for communities in Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia.
“Bell Let’s Talk is proud to continue building on our 15-year commitment to improving access to mental health services across Canada,” said Mary Deacon, chair of Bell Let’s Talk. “Through partnerships with community organizations like Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, youth and families living with mental health challenges now have greater access to culturally informed, compassionate supports.”
In total, Bell Let’s Talk has contributed over $184 million to mental health initiatives across Canada since its launch in 2010. The program’s funding also includes a text-to-donate campaign, which will take place on Jan. 22, as part of Bell Let’s Talk Day. The initiative will support six youth mental health organizations, with Bell matching all donations up to $1 million.
