Kick up some dust with Earth Day flash mob at The Forks

It’s Earth Day Weekend at The Forks, and organizers want you to get outside and dance with the planet on Sunday.

The Earth Day Flash Mob will kick up some dust on Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. at The Forks Market Patio outside the Johnston Terminal.

The flash mob will feature a K-pop-inspired routine led by the Illicit Dance Crew, which party-goers can sign up for to rehearse and learn.

Several performances from school and other local dance groups will follow, including Sisler’s Most Wanted, Kelvin High School Dance and Kelvin High School Cheer, DMCI’s finest, illicit Dance Crew, CC Cream, Ivan Flett Memorial Dancers, Ritmos del Peru, Inka Warrior Dance Group, UWinnipeg Bhangra, Indigenous Hoop Dancer Rylee Sandberg, Gago Brothers and BRT Academy of Dance.

Organizers say the dance moves are easy to learn, and encourage people to bring family, friends and even their pets.

Get ready to bust a move at the Earth Day Flash Mob! Secure your spot in the dance crew or kick back and groove as a groovy spectator. There’s still time to join our rehearsals and learn a K-pop-inspired routine led by @illicitdancecrew. The flash mob event is for everyone, and the dance moves are super easy to learn.

Green Kids will host the event, and Virgin Radio Hot 103.1 FM will broadcast live and give away prizes.
