The Split Lake, Man., resident had won $1 million on the May 31 Lotto Max draw.

“He checked it at the terminal and said he couldn’t pay my prize — it was too big!” she said in a release from the Western Canada Lottery Corporation. “When I saw the amount, I was so overwhelmed!”

While she’s going to take some time to process the win before she gets her plans in action, it may mean her dreams of a lakefront cabin can now become reality.

“I’m planning on purchasing a three-bedroom lakefront cabin on titled land,” she explained. “It really hasn’t sunk in yet that I can do it — and just how much I won!”

Spence purchased her winning Lotto Max ticket from Corner Deli at 200 Mystery Lake in Thompson. She won her Maxmillions prize by matching the numbers selected in the May 31 draw: 1, 15, 29, 32, 44, 48 and 49.

Spence may soon have company in the ranks of Manitoba lottery millionaires.  Tuesday’s Lotto Max draw will feature a grand prize of an estimated $70 million as well as 14 $1 million Maxmillion prizes.
