Man arrested gun was pointed at driver on Kenaston Boulevard

Winnipeg police responded to a gun-related incident near Kenaston Boulevard and Sterling Lyon Parkway on Saturday evening, adding to an already busy long weekend for law enforcement. Who on Saturday morning had more than 300 calls in waiting.

The incident began when a vehicle driving southbound on Kenaston Boulevard was approached by another vehicle driving erratically, swerving between lanes. The suspect vehicle pulled alongside the victim’s vehicle and what was described as a handgun was pointed at the victim and the driver.

After the confrontation, the suspect vehicle sped away, and the victim immediately contacted police, providing a description of the suspect and the vehicle involved.

Officers and the K9 Unit located the suspect vehicle parked in the 400 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway. Police saw a man exit the vehicle and discard an item in a nearby garbage receptacle. He was taken into custody, and a handgun, later identified as a CO2 pistol, was recovered from the garbage.

A 32-year-old man from Winnipeg is facing multiple charges, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, pointing a firearm, and possession of a weapon. Additional charges include possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order and failing to comply with a release order.
