Man charged after attacking fuel storage tanks with pickaxe

A 32-year-old man faces charges after a man was spotted hitting gas tanks holding Ebb and Flow First Nation’s fuel supply with a pickaxe.

Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP were alerted to the danger at about 11:25 p.m. on Monday. The tanks were not damaged, RCMP said in a news release.

Officers found a 32-year-old man from the community walking with a pickaxe on Highway 278, RMCP said, noting a razor blade was found in his mouth when searched.

The man faces charges of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and mischief. He was released from custody.
