Man charged after traffic stop produces seizure of guns, drugs

A Winipeg man is facing charges after Winnipeg police seized guns and drugs from the car he was driving.

Winnipeg’s Guns and Gangs Unit pulled over a vehicle with adult male with three passengers in 700 block of Dufferin Avenue on Thursday. Police said the driver did not have a valid driver’s license and was carrying an edged weapon.

The driver, a male and two female passengers were arrested. Police said a search of the vehicle uncovered a Remington Model 700 firearm, a loaded magazine, eight .22 calibre bullets, a decorative bullet belt, a black hunting knife, 0.25 grams of crack cocaine, 2.05 grams of fentanyl, 1.00 grams of methamphetamine, 38.8 grams of cutting agent, and drug packaging and paraphernalia.

A 23-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged possession of a firearm, knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, and possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He is in custody. The three passengers were released without charge.
