Man dead in Niverville after police shooting, woman in custody

A body lay on the ground and a police presence remained Wednesday morning at the site of an officer involved shooting in a small town that left one person dead, one in custody and one still on the run.

Officers including the RCMP Forensics unit were on site near the Shell and Tim Hortons in Niverville on Highway 311 around 11 a.m. Wednesday. A damaged pick up truck and a body laying next to the truck were on the scene where the forensics unit was working.

Police said a man was fatally wounded in an officer-involved shooting early Wednesday morning, one female is in custody and one male fled the scene in a stolen vehicle. Police said they plan to offer an update later today.

All schools in the town were in lockdown Wednesday morning.
