On Nov. 4, Winnipeg police officers responded to a report of a robbery involving a firearm in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue.
A 20-year-old male victim reported that around midnight, he had arrived at the residence to meet a woman he had been communicating with on social media. Upon entering, he was confronted by a group of unknown males armed with a gun and baseball bats.
The victim was tied up, assaulted, and robbed of his personal belongings, including his car keys. The suspects then took his vehicle. While the suspects were in another room, the victim managed to free himself and fled the scene. He later reported the incident to police. Though injured, he declined medical attention at the time.
The stolen vehicle is described as a blue 2011 Chevy Cruze LT Turbo with Manitoba licence plate LJS 195. The car has a spare “doughnut” tire on the rear passenger side, a dented driver-side door, and tinted windows. Police advise the public not to approach the vehicle if seen and to call 911 immediately.
The firearm used in the robbery remains outstanding. The Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact 204-986-6219 or provide tips anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
