Man sent to hospital in critical condition after being struck by train

A man was sent to hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a train near Concordia Avenue East and Peguis Street at just before 5 p.m., on Friday, Winnipeg Police said.

The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) rushed the 29-year-old man to hospital in critical condition. Police said the initial investigation indicates that he was walking along the tracks when struck by a westbound freight train.

WPS Traffic Division continues to investigate.

The public is reminded to exercise extreme caution when their activities take them in and around active rail lines, police said.
