Hospital security informed police that a 74-year-old man had sustained upper-body injuries from the attack. The victim was stabilized and treated at the hospital. The suspect fled on foot before police arrived.

Investigators learned that the victim was walking toward the hospital’s urgent care entrance when he was approached. Without provocation the victim was physically assaulted, causing him to fall and strike his head on the sidewalk, rendering him unconscious.

On Thursday, at approximately 11:45 p.m., officers located and arrested a man during an unrelated call for service.

A 30-year-old man has been charged with assault. The man was also found to have an outstanding Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) immigration warrant. He remains in custody, and the CBSA has been notified.
