This search aims to locate the remains of Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran, offering the victims or a convicted serial killer a dignified resting place. Premier Wab Kinew said this important work will require emotional intelligence and compassion. He encouraged Manitobans to apply for the available positions to help bring closure to the families.

The recruitment process is being led by AMC, with funding from the Manitoba government. Positions are available for general search technicians, forensic anthropology search technicians, and forensic anthropology search assistants. Successful applicants will receive specialized training to prepare them for the work. AMC is overseeing the hiring of general search technicians, who will report to forensic anthropology search team leaders.

In a statement made before her passing, Grand Chief Cathy Merrick of the AMC stressed the importance of this effort. She highlighted that the work marks a vital step toward healing for the affected families and communities. Merrick emphasized that the search would follow a First Nations-led approach to ensure that the loved ones are brought home with respect and dignity.

The search teams will be divided into two groups, each led by forensic anthropology search technicians, with members holding various levels of experience. While specialized positions such as forensic anthropology search technicians and assistants require specific qualifications, general applicants, particularly Indigenous individuals, are encouraged to apply. Emotional support will be provided for all involved in the search due to the sensitive nature of the work.
