“Our government is covering provincial park entry fees so all Manitobans can enjoy the outdoors this weekend,” said Schmidt. “Manitoba has over 90 provincial parks to enjoy hiking, camping or whatever outdoor adventure you choose. As we move into September, there are still a lot of outdoor activities to enjoy, and with free entry, this is a great time to get out and visit our beautiful provincial parks.”
During this period, visitors will not need vehicle permits for provincial parks. However, nightly camping fees remain in effect, and entrance fees to national parks are still required.
To camp in a provincial park, reservations can be made through the Parks Reservation Service at www.manitobaparks.com or by calling 1-888-482-2267.

Park interpreters will offer free tours, star gazing, guided paddles, and other programs. Details on these activities can be found online at manitobaparks.com or at local campground offices.
Visitors are advised to:
– Check the Manitoba Parks website for advisories before travelling
– Check-in at campground offices upon arrival
– Follow “Wildlife Smart” practices by keeping campsites clean and secure
– Wear life-jackets during water-related activities
– Keep pets on a leash
– Use approved fire pits for campfires and check for any restrictions
Due to the emerald ash borer in Winnipeg, firewood cannot be transported outside the city. Violations can result in fines up to $1,300 for individuals or $15,000 for businesses. Firewood can be purchased locally at most campgrounds.
Watercraft users should clean, drain, dry, and decontaminate equipment to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species. Information on decontamination stations is available at manitoba.ca/stopais.
