This funding will help the company grow its operations at CentrePort, said Economic Development, Investment, Trade and Natural Resources Minister Jamie Moses.

“MoveMobility’s new facility will help grow the economy, provide good jobs for skilled professionals, and showcase Manitoba as a prime destination for manufacturing companies on the world stage,” Moses said.

MoveMobility Inc. manufactures and exports medical vans across Canada and the United States. The company plans to construct a 60,000-square-foot facility at CentrePort, expanding its production capabilities to include type II ambulances.

Richard Jones, CEO of MoveMobility, expressed appreciation for the provincial government’s support.

“With backing from the provincial government, we are excited to address the ambulance shortage with a Manitoba-made solution, enhancing our ability to save lives and serve our community even more effectively,” Jones said.

The expansion is expected to create 55 skilled jobs, in addition to the 55 employees currently working at MoveMobility. The new facility will also enhance the company’s capacity to continue its innovative work in the health-care sector.

In response to the pandemic, MoveMobility developed a mobile health vehicle that has been used in First Nations communities and underserved areas for medical and mental health services, including vaccination drives. The new type II ambulance evolved from this mobile health-care model.

Carly Edmundson, president and CEO of CentrePort Canada Inc., praised the province’s support for MoveMobility’s growth.

“MoveMobility has been strategically located at CentrePort for many years and it’s incredible to see this Manitoba company expanding their operations at the trimodal inland port,” she said.

The expansion at CentrePort will allow MoveMobility to leverage global trade connections and enhance its ability to export products both nationally and internationally, contributing to Manitoba’s economic footprint.
