According to police, 81-year-old George Haslen was reported missing Friday shortly after 8 p.m. to Spruce Plains RCMP.
The Neepawa-area man was last seen around 3 p.m. on Friday while leaving his home in his pickup truck, Police said Saturday morning. They were concerned for his well-being because he was “not dressed for the weather.”
The disappearance led to RCMP releasing a plea to the public on Saturday for more information about Haslen’s whereabouts. RCMP and the man’s family conducted what was described as an “exhaustive search.”
Saturday afternoon, RCMP announced the grim news that searchers found the pickup truck on a rural road about 45 kilometres from Neepawa with Haslen inside.
First responders attended to the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Police have not yet indicated a cause of death.
