Neepawa RCMP charge teen after stolen truck involved in crash

A 16-year-old male from Dauphin has been charged after a stolen truck was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Sunday. The crash occurred at approximately 2:30 pm on Road 104 North at Road 76 West, near Glenella, when a mini-van lost control and was struck by a truck from behind.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the mini-van in the north ditch and the truck in the south ditch. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the local fire department were already providing assistance.

The driver of the mini-van, a 24-year-old woman from Amaranth, and two passengers were in the vehicle at the time. The truck, driven by the 16-year-old male, had one other occupant. After speaking with the driver, RCMP officers discovered he had outstanding warrants for his arrest and placed him under arrest.

Further investigation revealed the truck had been stolen from Elm Creek. The 16-year-old has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000. He was also found to have three outstanding arrest warrants from Winnipeg Police Service, as well as from RCMP detachments in Dauphin and Neepawa. He was remanded into custody.

The collision resulted in minor injuries to four individuals, including a 22-year-old male and a 23-year-old female from Sandy Bay First Nation, and a 28-year-old female from McCreary. All were transported to the hospital by EMS.

RCMP confirmed that all parties involved in the incident are known to each other, and the investigation is ongoing.
