Three pickup trucks and a semi-trailer were involved in the crash at the intersection of Highway 15 (Dugald Road) and the South Perimeter Highway at about 12:35 a.m., Oakbank RCMP said in a news release.

Additional officers from Beausejour, St-Pierre-Jolys, Red River North, Selkirk and the Winnipeg Police arrived on scene and provided assistance.

Mounties believed the three pickups were headed west on Dugald Road when one made contact with another.

The first truck lost control and veered right, hitting the side of the trailer of a semi stopped at the red light in the southbound lane of the Perimeter.

The initial collision caused the second pickup to hit the third pickup. Those two vehicles went through the intersection and came to rest on the west side of the Perimeter, RCMP said.

A man in his 20s driving the first pickup was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second pickup was taken to Winnipeg hospital with serious injuries. The third driver was treated and released on scene. They were also in their 20s. The 69-year-old male semi-driver was uninjured.

Oakbank RCMP continue to investigate.
