On Saturday, RCMP in the Pembina Valley responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 30 and Provincial Road 421, about three kilometres south of Altona.
Police said an 80-year-old man from Altona was driving a southbound pickup truck and attempted to turn east onto Provincial Road 421. During the turn, his vehicle collided with a northbound semi-trailer driven by a 29-year-old man.
The 80-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-trailer was not physically injured in the collision.
Pembina Valley RCMP are continuing to investigate the incident.
