RCMP said they received a call on Sunday about a man assaulting multiple people in Swan River and walking around in the community with a firearm.
When officers arrived on scene they were told the man had been picked up in a vehicle that fled the scene. Police located the vehicle at a gas bar nearby and arrested a 24-year-old male, a 27-year-old male, and a 40-year-old female.
The 24-year-old male suspect was found lying in the back of the vehicle with a loaded sawed-off shotgun, machete and ammunition, according to police.
Police said their investigation found that the 24-year-old had assaulted two male victims, ages 20 and 22, threatened to harm them, and forced them to empty their pockets and turn over their cell phones “all while having the firearm pointed at them.”
The 24-year-old and 27-year-old males, both from Sapotaweyak Cree Nation, are in custody on charges including careless use of a firearm, robbery with a firearm, and other firearm-related offences.
The 40-year-old female from Brandon was later released.
