In a release, WPS said that on Saturday, officers arrested a 20-year-old man in Winnipeg.
The man was charged with second-degree murder, after a fatal stabbing on Dec. 2 in the northern city of Thompson claimed the life of a 31-year-old man.
On Dec. 5, after murder charges were laid, Manitoba RCMP put out a public plea for information on the suspect’s whereabouts and said at the time investigators believed he was still somewhere in the Thompson area.
The 31-year-old victim, who police have not publicly identified, was discovered in a home with stab wounds, and later died in hospital. Police later determined the man was stabbed in a nearby home and not the one where he was discovered.
WPS said in their release the suspect was scheduled to make a court appearance on Monday on charges of second-degree murder.
