Police arrest Winnipeg man, 21, for February stabbing death

A 21-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a man on Fountain Street in February.

Charles Danny Chartrand, 43, was slain at an apartment block in the Centennial neighbourhood on Feb. 3. Homicide investigators at the time asked for help identifying two people of interest.

They were identified, and police believe the 21-year-old killed Chartrand after they got into an altercation in the apartment block where they both live.

The Crown authorized the charge of second-degree murder. The man, arrested while in custody for an unrelated manner, remains in custody.
