Police chopper helps nab woman for possession and not showing up in court

Early Wednesday morning Winnipeg police, aided by the police helicopter (Air1), were investigating an unrelated matter near Notre Dame Avenue and Becker Street. Air1 observed a female entering the yards of several residences in the area.

Officers on the ground were directed to the 1800 block of William Avenue West, where the female was arrested at around 2:30 a.m. Near her location, officers found a clear resealable plastic bag containing approximately 100 grams of methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $5,000.

A 26-year-old Winnipeg woman faces charges including possession of a scheduled substance, trespassing at night and fail to attend court.

She was released on an appearance notice as required by the Criminal Code.
