Winnipeg Police are investigating after a man was stabbed on Portage Avenue near the University of Winnipeg Thursday morning.

At around 8:45 a.m., police received several reports of a stabbing in the 500 block of Portage.
A passenger on a bus said they observed a man get stabbed by another man, who then rode away on a bike. Another call came to the police by a passerby.
Officers located the victim bleeding profusely and applied emergency medical care, including a life-saving chest seal, police said. The victim, in his 30s, was rushed to the hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to a stable condition. He reported being robbed of his bike and stabbed by an unknown suspect.
The Major Crimes Unit is continuing with the investigation.
