Police searching for man wanted in Selkirk Avenue slaying

Winnipeg Police are searching for a suspect in connection with a slaying in the city’s North End neighbourhood earlier this month.

Maxim Dale Garneau, 27, is wanted for second-degree murder for the slaying of Edgar Allan Bear, 56, who was found deceased in the 1200 block of Selkirk Avenue after police were sent to the home around 4:40 p.m. on March 18.

Bear, a member of Peguis First Nation, was living in Winnipeg at the time of his death.

On Thursday, police released a photo of the Garneau, warning people that he is considered dangerous and should not be contacted.

Anyone with information regarding Garneau’s whereabouts is asked to call the WPS Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508, Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477 or the Crime Stoppers website at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
