Police seek public’s help to find seriously-injured woman who walked away from hospital

Winnipeg Police is asking for the public’s assistance after seriously-injured patient from a remote northern community walked away from Grace Hospital without receiving medical attention.

On Sunday evening, police were informed that 42-year-old Melissa Duck had left the hospital without being treated. Medical staff is concerned for her well-being and believes her condition is potentially life-threatening. She had been airlifted from a remote northern community for treatment, police said.

To aid in the search, police released photos and a description of Duck on Monday.

She is described as an Indigenous woman, approximately five-foot-six with a medium build and long, dark-coloured hair, and was wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2842, the non-emergency line at 204-986-6222, or 911 for an emergency.
